The Saskatoon Society of Fund Raising Executives is a professional organization dedicated to providing a supportive network for Fund Raising executives.
Our goals are:
- To foster opportunities for resource sharing, networking and education.
- To promote professionalism in fund raising and to interpret the profession to our own agencies and the general public.

Proudly from Saskatoon, Joan is an expert in Fundraising, with over 25 years of experience.
Joan launched her company for small and mid-sized charities who want to grow their organizational capacity, increase resources and build fund development plans that yield their sustainability.
She believes that charities are the fabric of society in making our world a better place and wants to see charities flourish.

Richard Kies

Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan
Richard joined the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan in 2024 and brings over 20 years of non-profit experience to this newly created role. His previous experience in the sector as a fundraiser, communicator, and executive leader include six years as Executive Director for the Kinsmen TeleMiracle Foundation and 15 years with the Canadian Red Cross.
Richard earned his Bachelor of Administration degree and Certificate in Public Relations from the University of Regina and holds an Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) designation from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).
Richard believes in giving back both locally and globally through voluntary leadership roles with the Saskatoon Society of Fundraising Executives (SSFRE), University of Regina Alumni Association (URAA) and IABC.

Carman Praski

Carman has extensive finance and accounting knowledge, having graduated from the U of S with a Commerce degree majoring in Finance with a minor in Marketing. His first job post-university was at Federated Co-op in Corporate Accounting. After that, he spent time with Canon in sales and the Sask Abilities Council in marketing. From there he spent over 20 years as a professional fundraiser with QSP Canada, and joined the Kinsmen Foundaton one year ago. Carman has also owned business over the years and has knowledge of all aspects of business ownership and business accounting.
Carman is married to Deanne Praski, who works as the Volunteer Manager at Ronald McDonald House here in Saskatoon. They have three amazing children: Connor, 22, is finishing his Marketing degree at Edwards School of Business, Megan, 19, is a gifted artist and currently works at Saskatoon Co-op, and Nathan, 15, is in grade 10 at St Joseph High School and loves soccer and sports. Carman loves spending time with his family, enjoys reading, especially positive mental attitude and self-improvement books, likes sports of any kind and enjoys staying healthy. Carman has dedicated his life to helping others and making a difference. His glass is always half full and he is happy to be living a blessed life!

Krys is passionate about fostering meaningful connections between people and charities. Her role involves supporting Saskatoon Community Foundations mission to enhance community well-being by building strong relationships with donors and ensuring impactful grant distribution. She thrives on helping others and is dedicated to advancing both the mission of Saskatoon Community Foundation and the broader community.
Outside of work, Krys is a proud spouse and mother to a wonderful son. My heart belongs to the water—I often find myself dreaming of being a mermaid! I enjoy exploring the Meewasin Trail, taking long walks, and cherishing time spent with friends and family. My passion for community and connection drives both my professional and personal life.

Kayla Schneider

Foundations Learning
Kayla is a passionate advocate for community-driven change and lifelong learning. With a strong background in social services and child & youth care, she has spent years supporting families in crisis and recognizing the power of education as a preventative tool. Before stepping into her role as Donor Relations & Development Officer, Kayla played a key part in growing Foundations Learning & Skills Saskatchewan’s profile, working closely with program participants, volunteers, and community partners to expand its reach and impact.
Now, as a leader in donor engagement, Kayla channels her deep understanding of the agency’s mission into building meaningful relationships with supporters. Her firsthand experience with the transformative power of literacy and skills development allows her to connect donors with initiatives that create lasting change.
As a proud mother of two daughters, Kayla is a steadfast advocate for equitable access to education. She is eager to continue learning from Saskatoon’s nonprofit community and strengthening partnerships that empower children, families, and communities across the province.

Leland MacLachlan

Canadian Red Cross
Leland MacLachlan is a Manager on the Creative Services & Donor Impact team at the Canadian Red Cross, where he showcases the real-world outcomes of donor generosity. Prior to his work with the Red Cross, he was a Parliamentary Assistant in the House of Commons and an Educational Programmer at the Diefenbaker Canada Centre. He holds a BA in International Studies and an MA in Political Studies from the University of Saskatchewan.
